Enjoy the bustling cities of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Bangkok and retreat to the tranquil villages. Visit small-scale farms - tropical fruits, sugar cane, rice, sweet potatoes, corn, water buffalo and more. Meet happy, smiling Vietnamese people and enjoy their varied cuisine. We will visit a few Vietnam War sites of interest. Travel on the Mekong river and visit one of the colorful floating markets.

Vietnam Agriculture Tour Itinerary
Depart on your international flight from Chicago to Vietnam. Flight details to be confirmed. Meals will be served on your international flight. Meals: on plane
Evening arrival in HCMC and meet your tour guide at the airport. Transfer to check in hotel. Overnight Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). Meals: on plane
After breakfast we embark on a ½ day city tour of Ho Chi Minh City. Highlights include visit to the Unification Palace, the Notre Dame Cathedral, Post Office and Opera house before lunch in local restaurant. Afternoon visit to War Remnants Museum with amazing artifacts and history from the Vietnam War. Following we will visit the Ben Thanh Market, a large marketplace in central Hồ Chí Minh City. The market is one of the earliest surviving structures in Saigon and an important symbol of Hồ Chí Minh City, where you can find local handicrafts, textiles and souvenirs, as well as local cuisine. Return to hotel. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
After breakfast visit the Agricultural Village, where we will learn about Vietnamese farming and farming life. An area of over 150,000 square meters designated to agriculture, located on the dirt roads of Cu Chi Province away from the noisy city of Saigon. Here you can hear the sounds from cows, buffaloes and many birds singing a song. Cu Chi is famous for its cattle. You will see herds of wandering cows on the field and will get a better understanding about the hard life of the local people. Local people still keep the tradition of the ancestors. Buffaloes are plowing on the fields. You will have a firsthand opportunity try your hands on buffalo plowing. You will discover and better understand the process of rice cultivation by local people. You will also learn about planted vegetables, mushrooms, fruit and herbs. The group will visit a mushroom plantation. Enjoy a hands-on cooking class where you learn to prepare a healthy meal with organic produce. After lunch we’ll visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, a byzantine maze of underground passages, chambers, rooms and booby traps used by both the Viet Minh and Viet Cong against the Americans allowing the fighters to suddenly materialize from nowhere to launch lightening ambushes and then rapidly disappear. Return to Ho Chi Minh city and visit Thanh Tung insect farm (crickets and scorpions). This farm breeds crickets to sell to restaurants. The group will have the opportunity to sample crickets. Rest of afternoon and evening at your leisure to explore Saigon. Overnight Ho Chi Minh City. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Check out of hotel and drive to My Tho, (ca. 80 km from Ho Chi Minh City). Visit the Than CuuNghia Cooperative with vegetable, spicy herbs & chili plantation and raising fish. We embark on a boat ride on Mekong River to visit fish farms, local houses and experience local songs of Mekong River Delta. Visit a small shop making coconut candy, short walk on the island then board small boats to go through the small channels. Visit local bee farm and try the honey with tea. We continue to Can Tho, the largest city in the Mekong Delta region – one of the largest agricultural production areas in Vietnam. This area produces rice, fishes, vegetables, fruits and more. After breakfast at the hotel we will take a boat trip on the Mekong River to visit Cai Rang Floating Market. Visit the local farmer house and experience their daily life with fishing and making local pan cake. Lunch in the garden. In the afternoon return to hotel for refresh. Dinner in local restaurant. We will check out and return to the metropolis of HCMC. En route we visit Kimmy's Chocolatier – one of the most famous chocolate producers in Vietnam. The group will learn about the original owner’s humble beginnings as an entrepreneur, his start in the business and we will learn the production process and enjoy unforgettable local chocolate. Afterwards lunch, continue to HCNC. Check into your hotel and time at your leisure to relax, shop at one of the local markets or explore Saigon. Dinner on own. Overnight in HCMC. Check-out and transfer to the airport for morning flight to Bangkok. After arrival at the Bangkok International Airport we clear customs and immigrations. Our local tour guide will welcome us to Thailand. We’ll proceed to the river and board a long-tail speedboat to cruise the Bangkok Canal, passing by the Royal Barges Museum, which houses several impressive barges with excellent details in the workmanship. Once war vessels, they are now used in royal procession, such as celebrations or religious ceremonies. Along the way, you’ll also see the Temple of the Dawn (Wat Arun), one of the Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks. Expect to find locals doing their daily businesses along the canals, such as transporting rice. Drop off at Wat Arun. Then proceed to hotel for check-in. Dinner at local restaurant. CBreakfast at hotel. Depart to the Chaipattana Foundation’s Rice Mill (Demonstration and Integrated Renewable Energy Development and Demonstration Center) in Ayutthaya to observe the chemical-free rice farming project and learn the rice processing, systematic management of the rice business of the community, increasing productivity and the use of waste materials in the production process. Following the visit we transfer to Bang Sai Royal Arts and Crafts Center, the project of Her Majesty the Queen is designed to keep the traditional Thai crafts alive. You will visit the part of arts and crafts which is divided into 30 divisions; the highlights are the visits to the workshops for woven silk, Khon head making, glass blowing and ceramic making etc. Return to Bangkok and transfer to restaurant for farewell Dinner. Overnight in Bangkok. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
